Interlace Flicker This bit of information is mentioned in the manual, but it may help to repeat it here. Since ProWrite works in the interlace mode of the Amiga, on most monitors (and all Amiga 1080 monitors) there is a noticable flicker. You can reduce this flicker by pressing Shift-Help; this will dim the colors and remove most of the flicker. Reducing the brightness and contrast controls of your monitor will also help. Alternatively, you can purchase a product such as JITTER-RID to place over your monitor screen. Finally, to eliminate the problem completely, you can purchase a long-persistance monitor such as the new Amiga 2080 monitor.FSCC
3Opening Files In the "Open" requester, you can move up and down the file list by using the cursor up and down keys. This allows you to select and open files without using the keyboard
just select the file with the cursor keys and press the Return (or Enter) key to open it; or press the ESC key to cancel.
In order to have a text file from another program show up in ProWrite's "Open" requester, it must have an icon, with an entry in the icon's "TOOL TYPES" list of "FILETYPE=text". Refer to your Amiga user's manual for information on how to do this (note that TextCraft automatically sets the FILETYPE when you save as "Text Only"). You can also load a text file into ProWrite by running it from the CLI; typing ProWrite "filename".
Printing In the "Print As" submenu under the "Project" menu there are two additional items
"Continuous" and "Cut Sheet." These options are used to select the type of paper handling you want, and are initially set to the value in Amiga Preferences. When you will be printing on single sheets of paper, choose the "Cut Sheet" option. When you begin printing, you will be presented with a requester asking you to insert the next sheet of paper when necessary.FSCC
FCopy/Paste Format In the "Edit" menu there are two additional items
"Copy Format" and "Paste Format." These commands are used to copy a particular paragraph format from one paragraph to others. To use these commands, place the insertion point in the paragraph whose format you wish to copy (the paragraph format includes margin, indent, and tab settings, margin alignment, and line spacing), and choose "Copy Format." Then place the insertion point in the paragraph you wish to change the format of (or select a range of paragraphs you wish to change) and choose "Paste Format."FSCC
Tabs When no tab positions are set in the ruler, ProWrite assumes there are left tab stops set at every
inch. You can therefore do simple columnar alignment without setting tab positions.FSCC
In the "Tab Type" submenu under the "Paragraph" menu there is one additional option
"Right" aligned tabs. Right aligned tabs work in a very similar fashion to decimal tabs; all text after the tab up to the next tab or end of paragraph is right aligned on the tab position. To use right aligned tabs, choose "Right" from the "Tab Type" submenu, then click in the ruler at the position you want the tab set.TEXT
Fonts There are three additional fonts provided on the ProWrite system disk
Granite, Marble, and Serpentine. Granite is a simple sans-serif font (this text is in Granite font), Marble is a serif font (This is an example of Marble font), and Serpentine is a "casual" thread-like font (This is an example of Serpentine font). These fonts all are in 15 point size, although the actual character sizes are 12 point (there are three additional dots above each character to improve both the line spacing and the appearance of accented foreign characters). Let us know if you would be interested in having these or other fonts in different sizes.
